Fahrenheit 451 - book review
Fahrenheit 451 is a book written by Ray Bradbury and published in 1953.
Fahrenheit 451 begins with introductions to a fireman named Guy Montag however being a fireman in Fahrenheit 451 is not the same as it is in our universe. In the Fahrenheit 451 universe books are outlawed and fireman enforce this by burning any books they can find. As well as at any cost.
Fahrenheit 451 is entertaining to read .The pacing throughout the novel makes it an extraordinary pleasant read. It’s very easy to sit down and read for long periods of time but is also pleasant to read a page whenever convenient.
There are varying themes throughout the novel. The theme that I personally found the most interesting was conforming to societal standards.
The novel most definitely portays conforming and herd mentality in a negative light and shows how dangerous it can truly be.
We are already aware of the consequences associated with this specific societal phenomenon as demonstrated by Nazi Germany just to give an example. An interesting thought experiment conducted by a psychology professor who's name I have forgotten. He had asked his class if they would have been an abolisher of slavery if they were born in that Era and if they were, to put their hands up.
But statistically we know the majority of them wouldn't have been on the right side of history. The whole class put their hands up.
Fahrenheit 451 is a great read and I highly recommend it as a classic to cross off your list.
